CA Kids Honored with OneOC's 45th Annual Spirit of Volunteerism Award

We were so happy to be honored today at OneOC's 45th Annual Spirit of Volunteerism virtual awards ceremony! Thank you to Trina Fleming, CEO of WHW (Women Helping Women), for nominating CA Kids Giving Back. The Spirit of Volunteerism Awards is the largest and longest running volunteer recognition event that provides communities the opportunity to recognize individual and groups for outstanding and innovative volunteer service.

Women Helping Women nominated CA Kids for holding an event to help people get jobs in September 2020. Here is why they said we were extraordinary:

The goal of CA Kids Giving Back is to make the world a better place and teach other kids about compassion. Run by children and teens, with a little help from Moms and Dads, the organization wants to do as much as they can to help people, the earth, and animals. But what makes them really happy is when they inspire other people to give back. In spite of the pandemic, CA Kids Giving Back reached out to WHW wanting to do something to help all of the people who had lost their jobs because of COVID-19. But it had to be something where people could still be safe. So they decided to do a “drive by” clothing and toiletry drive, collecting bin loads of apparel, accessories and personal care items. Using Instagram to promote the event, these mighty junior philanthropists also raised over $5,000 in sponsorships and through the sale of opportunity drawings. Since their beginning in 2016, they have hosted almost 50 events and raised more than $50,000 supporting organizations in Orange, Los Angeles and San Diego counties!

It was fun to take photos in the virtual photo booth and be honored at such a special event! For more information about our event for WHW, you can see our blog post here:
